The unit of work demonstrates one approach that can be taken with Level 2 students and the merging of two Christian Church key ideas: The Christian community is shaped by and shapes its cultural and historical contexts, and, Christians pray, worship and celebrate the sacraments.
An exploration of the concept of Christian community begins with the Easter story and moves on to include the act of prayer. From there the students begin to make the link between the ideas of ‘family’ and ‘Christian community’, and how Christians live out their faith. Connection with the third CC key idea is made through symbols and worship practices and sacraments that are specific to the Christian community. The teacher’s reflections provide further insights into aspects of the inquiry.
