On March 4 of this year, a focus group consisting of bishops, regional and national directors, principals, and school pastor representatives met to discuss the review of policies related to leadership, staffing, and ministry in Lutheran schools.
Reviewing the school leadership and school pastor policies together highlights the importance of mutual ministry and clearly defined roles in delivering high-quality Christ-centred education. The review also takes into account the changing demographics of our schools and the availability of staff.
Following this meeting, a smaller writing group was convened to begin work on the first draft of the revised policy. It is anticipated that the draft policy will be available for wider consultation early in Term 3, after consultation with the reference group. The current timeline aims to have the policy approved and in place at the start of 2025.
We look forward to your feedback when the draft is released for consultation next term.
