Our 3-day Introduction to ministry in Lutheran education workshop was facilitated in Melbourne at LEVNT at the start of May 2025. New ministry staff from Lutheran schools in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria engaged in topics that included:
- Our context and spiritual leadership

- Worship in Lutheran education
- Pastoral and self-care
- Learning in Lutheran education
This workshop is one part of their progression towards Accreditation for ministry (Am). They also complete Connect, and commence study supportive of their role in Lutheran education after a meeting with their Regional Formation Leader and their Principal.
Some reflections from the group included:
What worked well?

- Interaction, reflections and networking … with like-minded people.
- Sharing at the table and having exercises to collaborate with others.
- Opportunities to discuss ideas/issues with others.
- Clarity on my role to give me a better understanding of the role of a Chaplain in a Lutheran School.
What is a key take away?
- Recovery is not the same as rest and relaxation.
- I like the idea of … being more intentional about creating spaces for people to engage differently for worship and devotions.
- Advocating for chapels and worship times as sacred times and spaces.
- Be an advocate for devotions for our staff and students.
- The role of the Lutheran church in our schools.
Thanks to the LEVNT office team, for allowing us to use their workplace for these 3 days. Thanks also to Geelong Lutheran College, Good News Lutheran College, Immanuel College and Luther College for releasing staff to help facilitate this important workshop.
