The LEA Director of Formation is responsible for the provision of professional support for Lutheran education through the development and regular review of staff formation programs for staff in Lutheran schools and early childhood centres.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, and in cooperation and liaison with other Lutheran Education Australia (LEA) staff, the various Regional Directors of Lutheran schooling within Australia and their relevant officers, and other leaders in the church, the LEA Director of Formation manages a collaborative and nationally consistent approach to the successful completion of the following:
- ensure that LEA accreditation policies and formation programs are being reviewed regularly in close consultation with Australian Lutheran College (ALC) and regional education officers
- ensure that LEA accreditation policies and formation programs are being implemented consistently in all schools and Early Childhood Services (ECS)
- manage the staffing accreditation process and monitor staff compliance with the requirements
- support Education Officers and ALC staff in the implementation and delivery of staff formation programs
- provide ongoing professional development opportunities for school pastors, chaplains and lay workers for all schools and ECSs
- represent LEA at ALC and with other relevant tertiary providers
- provide and develop resources for worship in Lutheran schools and ECSs
- enhance and support the LEA / ALC relationship
- oversee the ongoing professional and theological development of, and develop programs for, school pastors, chaplains and lay workers, in consultation with various relevant LCA agencies
- assist, and deputise for, the LEA Executive Director from time to time.
