It is with great sadness mixed with joy, that we share news of the passing of Pastor (Rev Dr) Elmore Leske.
While we mourn his passing, it is a great blessing to know that after receiving Christ’s call into the ministry as a boy, His Lord and Saviour has finally called His faithful servant into His loving care.
His service to Christ, ever faithful to the Lutheran Confessions included:
- Pastor, Bethlehem, Evangelical Lutheran Church of Australia (Adelaide)
- Headmaster, Concordia College and Seminary, Evangelical Lutheran Church of Australia (Adelaide)
- Preceptor, Westfield House Seminary, Evangelical Lutheran Church of England (Cambridge)
- Lecturer/Deputy Principal, Lutheran Teachers College, Lutheran Church of Australia (Adelaide)
- Lecturer, Luther Seminary, Lutheran Church of Australia (Adelaide)
- Lecturer, Concordia Seminary, Lutheran Church of Missouri Synod (St Louis, USA)
- Deputy Principal, Luther Seminary, Lutheran Church of Australia (Adelaide)
As a theologian and teacher, his passions were Latin, Greek, Early Church History, Lutheran Confessions and Pastoral Theology. His love of church music included playing the organ and conducting choirs.
Many of us across Lutheran Education will share happy memories of his contributions to the development of teachers through his work at Lutheran Teachers College.
He is mourned by his beloved wife of 71 years Pamela, whom he met at Concordia College 80 years ago; his loved children Judy (& Tim), Peter, Jonathan (& Rhonda), Robin (& Kellie), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10am on Thursday 27 February at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Flinders St, Adelaide.
